A PDA Portable Keyboard Is A Solution

The PDA released us from having to do our computing at our desk and made us free to roam around the word. It's biggest drawback is the clumsy method of data entry using a stylus on a virtual keyboard or trying to use word recognition or key strokes. Any one of which are tiring and tedious work. Accuracy is often a matter of luck because of the lack of space between characters.

Once again, it has been proven that necessity is the mother of invention. PDA portable keyboards have been made available to the PDA user.

A PDA portable keyboard can be connected to your PDA through one of several methods. It can be hard wired in through the use of a serial or USB connection. It can be connected through Bluetooth technology. Or, it can be connected by infrared. Of the three, Bluetooth would appear to be winning in the popularity market.

Prices for PDA Portable Keyboards have been found as low as $8.00 for the Eagle Touch PKB-110. It is portable and the case cover opens to make a stand for the keyboard. When closed it provides protection from dirt and dust. To use the keyboard just slip the Pda into the slot and start typing. It's low power consumption is taken directly from the PDA.

We were able to find a Belkin PDA F8E458 listed at only $19.90 plus shipping. It also uses the dock and play technology of the Eagle Touch. When removed from it's carrying case and unfolded it is a full scale keyboard.

Moving up in the price range we found the Belkin G700. It is available for $79.00 plus shipping. The Belkin folds down into a compact 3.74" x 5.83" x .55" package. Opened, it's three sections are somewhat smaller than a standard keyboard. This is a problem with many of the PDA portable keyboards we looked at. Larger fingered people will tend to make more typing errors due to the key size and spacing.

As a business person on the go, you already carry a lot of equipment in support of your work. If you already carry a laptop computer and a cell phone you may want to rethink the need for a PDA portable keyboard. The Pda and keyboards while small and light do take up some room in your carry on.
